It&#8217;s helpful to know the Grid Number (parcel ID). If you don&#8217;t know this information, you can search County-wide in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gis.dutchessny.gov\/parcelaccess\/\">Parcel\/Access<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Open the assessment roll file and use the &#8220;Search&#8221; or &#8220;Find&#8221; feature in Acrobat. If you do not see it on your toolbar when you open the file, try right-clicking in the body of the roll. This should enable a drop-down menu.<\/li>\n<li>Type the parcel ID in the search box. You can enter the whole ID, ex: 1234-12-123456-0000, or you can just enter the six-digit group, 123456, it is unique enough within the roll to find your parcel.<\/li>\n<li>You can use any search criteria, like street address or owner name, but you may get a number of &#8220;false positives&#8221; if the owner name is common. You may get nothing if the name is spelled differently from what you key in.<\/li>\n<li>Hit &lt;Enter&gt;. Be patient. These are large files, and it can take a minute for the software to find the data. The second search within the same roll file will generally be quicker. If you are looking for information on a number of parcels, you may want to organize your work by municipality.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Printing: <\/strong>Any page may be printed. Be sure to select &#8220;Current page&#8221; or &#8220;Current view&#8221; in the Print Range option.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Downloading: <\/strong>Assessment roll files may be freely downloaded.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>TAX COLLECTION<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/beaconny.gov\/index.php\/departments\/finance\/\">The City of Beacon Finance Department<\/a> issues and collects City and Dutchess County taxes annually.\n<ul>\n<li>Tax bills are distributed at the end of January.<\/li>\n<li>The deadline to pay without penalty is March 2.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Property tax payment methods:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Online:<\/strong> Use the \u201cPay My Bills\u201d tab on the City\u2019s website: <a href=\"https:\/\/beaconny.gov\/\">beaconny.gov<\/a> .<\/li>\n<li><strong>By Mail:<\/strong> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">City of Beacon, PO Box 1870, Buffalo NY 14240<\/span>. Mailed tax payments are collected by a third party on behalf of the City until the due date. After that, payments with any interest and penalties need to be sent to City of Beacon, One Municipal Plaza Beacon NY 12508<\/li>\n<li><strong>In Person:<\/strong> City Hall: 2 drop boxes located outside of City Hall at the Court entrance.\u00a0 Payments are also accepted at the clerks window 8am-3:30pm Monday through Friday.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Please note<\/strong>:\u00a0 The M&amp;T branch at 200 Main St. is <u>not accepting<\/u> payments this year.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Partial payments are accepted only at City Hall.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/beaconny.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Tax-Change-of-Address-Form.pdf\">Change of Address Form for City of Beacon Property Taxes<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>SCHOOL TAX BILLS<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The Beacon City School District issues School tax bills in September and are due without penalty in October. The Beacon School District will not collect payments between November and January. The City of Beacon <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>only<\/em> <\/span>collects delinquent school taxes as of January 1.<\/li>\n<li>For questions about your school tax bill, please contact the Beacon City School District at 845-838-6900.<\/li>\n<li>View your bill here at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.infotaxonline.com\/FindProperty.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Infotaxonline<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>TAX ASSESSOR<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The Assessor&#8217;s office practices an open door policy with all City of Beacon taxpayers.<\/li>\n<li>The Assessor&#8217;s responsibility is to prepare a fair and equitable assessment roll.<\/li>\n<li>The physical description and value estimate for every property in the City of Beacon are available in the Assessor&#8217;s office.<\/li>\n<li>The Assessor administers all real property tax exemptions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>GRIEVANCE DAY<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0Tax Assessment Grievance Day is held yearly at City Hall on the fourth Wednesday of May from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and\u00a0 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the lower-level classroom, enter through the Building Department.<\/li>\n<li>Written Complaints with respect to\u00a0assessments may be filed with the Assessor any time prior to or on Grievance Day and shall be transmitted by the Assessor to the Board of Assessment Review on or before Grievance Day.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/beaconny.wpengine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/rp524-fill-in.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The form is RP-524 and is available online\u00a0here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>The New York State Office of Real Property Services website has all the forms needed for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tax.ny.gov\/pit\/property\/exemption\/index.htm\">exemptions<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tax.ny.gov\/pit\/property\/contest\/grievproced.htm#:~:text=Use%20Form%20RP-524%2C%20Complaint%20on%20Real%20Property%20Assessment,assessment%20review%20%28BAR%29%20in%20your%20city%20or%20town.\">grievances<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>TAX EXEMPTIONS<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>All exemption forms are due no later than March 1, 2024.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Applications available in the Assessor\u2019s office or online at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.tax.ny.gov\/forms\/orpts\/star.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">STAR (School Tax Relief) exemption forms\u00a0<\/a>. Please contact the Assessor\u2019s office if you have any questions (845) 838-5025.<\/li>\n<li>Informal meetings regarding assessment questions about the next year&#8217;s tax roll may take place throughout the year.
