This app is an important resource for those struggling with mental health and substance use disorders, as well as family and friends who wish to help those suffering.\u00a0 We encourage all to download this app today, regardless of whether or not you are currently struggling with mental health issues, because you never know when you or someone you love may need help.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The new HELPLINE app features a variety of tools and resources, including videos and articles, as well as direct connections to mental health professionals for moments of crisis.\u00a0\u00a0 The app\u2019s resources include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>\u201cCall for help\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>\u201cText for help\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>direct links<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 simply press for immediate connection with Dutchess County\u2019s HELPLINE, staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week with experienced mental health professionals.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Interactive Safety Plan \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>create a personal safety plan and have a ready list of customized tools and resources to provide support when an individual feels they are starting to have a crisis.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Suicide Prevention tools<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 features healthy steps to utilize if one feels suicidal thoughts.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Narcan Information &amp; Training<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 learn about life-saving Narcan and training opportunities to learn how to use it in the event of an overdose.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Resource map<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 highlighting local food pantries and behavioral health facilities.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Calendar\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013 schedule of events, trainings and activities hosted by DBCH, other county departments and more.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Mental Health Tips<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; articles and videos for mental wellness.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The app will also include a link to the Dutchess County Emergency Preparedness app, which is expected to also launch in the coming weeks and will provide up-to-date information during emergencies, such as weather events.<\/p>\n<p>Easily accessible mental health resources are more important than ever before, as local hospitals continue to see significant volume of mental health-related issues in their emergency departments and overdose deaths continue to rise.\u00a0\u00a0 The new HELPLINE app is part of a broad array of 24\/7 crisis services and mental health resources offered by Dutchess County.\u00a0\u00a0 Other resources include the 24\/7 Stabilization Center, located at 230 North Road in Poughkeepsie, where mental health professionals listen, access the specific situation, and can work on a plan for healing and connect patients to appropriate services.\u00a0 Dutchess County\u2019s Mobile Crisis Intervention Team is also available 24\/7 to travel to respond to people where they are.\u00a0\u00a0 Intensive Treatment Alternatives Program (ITAP), street outreach by recovery coaches and harm reduction education are among the other programs available to those struggling with substance use disorders.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 For those who are struggling themselves or have a loved one struggling with suicidal thoughts, there are different suicide prevention trainings available. More information on these resources can be found at\u00a0<a href=\"file:\/\/\/C:\/Users\/kbecker\/AppData\/Local\/Microsoft\/Windows\/INetCache\/Content.Outlook\/95U6GVF8\/www.dutchessny.gov\">www.dutchessny.gov<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The HELPLINE app offers one more way for people to connect and get emotional support, information, and problem-solving help that may prevent a tragedy.<\/p>\n<p>Deputy DBCH Commissioner and Director of Community Services Jean-Marie Niebuhr noted, \u201cSupport is important for everyone.
