On Friday, August 8th, Mayor Kyriacou was joined by Assemblymember Jonathan Jacobson (D – Beacon), City Councilmembers, Recreation Director Mark Price, and members of the community for a ribbon-cutting event to mark the completion of the South Avenue Park Rehabilitation Project (the “Project”), which began in late May 2025. The $893,000 Project includes resurfacing and restriping of the existing basketball and tennis courts, replacement of deteriorated fencing, and relandscaping to remove failing retaining walls and regrade areas adjacent to the courts. The Project also features the first ever installation of a permanent public restroom at the Park, which has been decorated with a beautiful community-painted mural like the public restrooms at Memorial and Green Street Parks.
