On November 3, 2025, the Beacon City Council voted to approve emergency municipal funding to help mitigate difficulties for residents whose Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) have been interrupted by the federal government shutdown.
Beginning on Thursday, November 6th, qualifying Beacon residents may pick up one of three grocery card options at the City’s Recreation Center (23 West Center Street) during the hours listed below. Each SNAP recipient will be limited to one option at this time.
Thanks to Key Food Marketplace, Beacon Natural Market, and the Beacon Farmers Market for partnering with the City of Beacon to provide this critical food security intervention. Each organization generously offered discounted rates to the City for the cards, so that the allocated local funding goes further in supporting the City’s vulnerable families while federal benefits are delayed.
In order to receive a card, please bring (1) photo identification; (2) proof of residency (such as a piece of current mail); and (3) your SNAP card. The schedule for distributions this week is as-follows:
Thursday 11/6/25
9am-3pm
6pm-9pm
Friday 11/7/25
9am-3pm
6pm-9pm
Saturday 11/8/25
