How to Recycle Paint in Dutchess County

October 25, 2022

Dutchess County is no longer accepting paint at their Household Hazardous Waste Events. Instead, paint can now be recycled year-round through the PaintCare Program.

Recycling your paint through this program is simple: you can bring all brands of leftover house paint, stain, and varnish (new or old, 5-Gallon containers or less) to drop sites throughout New York State. To find a drop-site, please click here!

Households may drop off as much latex or oil-based paint as a given site is willing to accept. Businesses can drop of as much latex-based paint as a given site is willing to accept but must qualify as an exempt generator under federal law to drop off oil-based paint. For free pickup of large volumes of paint (100+ gallons), visit here.

Recycling through this program is free to consumers and is funded by fees charged to paint manufacturers for every can produced, which is built into prices sold by retailers.
