Parklets: Beacon’s Main Street Re-opening
A parklet is a sidewalk extension that provides more space and amenities for people using the street. Usually parklets are installed on parking lanes and use several parking spaces. As part of the Beacon Main Street Re-opening plan businesses can submit an application for consideration to utilize main street parking spaces for expanded outdoor business use.
The City of Beacon is in the process of finalizing the specifications and requirements of the parklet program. By application, Beacon’s Main Street businesses can be considered for use of parking spaces to expand dining or retail space. Please note that any business needing an outdoor service permit for alcohol must fill out a supplemental application with the New York State Liquor Authority.

Reopening Outside Guidelines for City of Beacon Businesses
Beacon’s Main Street businesses are also encouraged to inform their customers of the many municipal lots located in Beacon in consideration of the reduced parking created by the parklet program.
