City of Beacon 154th Commemoration of Memorial Day
Memorial Day in Beacon is hosted by the five community veterans organizations at the Veterans Memorial building and is a solemn occasion. We recognize and honor those who, in the words of Abraham Lincoln, gave the last full measure of devotion to our nation. Memorial Day is certainly a day to be with family and friends, to celebrate, to anticipate, and to mourn those who have served our community and nation.
SCHEDULE:
10:00 a.m. on E. Main Street Bridge: Public commemoration in recognition of the sacrifices made by the naval forces.
11:00 a.m. in front of Veteran’s Memorial Building (430 Main Street, Beacon, NY 12508): The Public Commemoration will continue at the Memorial Building and will feature key remarks by Edie Meeks, a Beacon High School student, the Hon. Peter Foreman, and a Veteran from the community. A special award made by the Republic of Korea will also be presented to Beacon resident who served honorably in the conflict.
