Backyard Trees- A Homeowners Resource- Cooler temperatures. Cleaner air. Higher property values. Healthier residents. These are all benefits to the planting of trees.
Based on the success of last year’s pilot program, the City of Beacon, is replicating its tree purchasing program again in 2025. This program will pass along a significant savings to homeowners interested in planting trees on their property. The trees offered in the 2025 program are close to 50% off retail and will be delivered directly to your home.
All tree listed would be delivered to the homeowner in 15-gallon pots (unless indicated below). Average tree height would be 5’ to 10’ with a trunk caliper of 1.25”-1.75”. All trees will be delivered to your home in April 2025 before Arbor Day. Please note that the homeowner will be responsible for planting and care of the trees delivered. Please consider purchasing a TreeGator® with each tree. Treegator® Slow Release Watering Bags are the fastest, easiest, and most efficient way to effectively water a newly planted tree or shrub.

Spring City-Wide Yard Sale- Saturday, June 14th 2025 9:00am to 3:00pm
Yard Sale- Advertise your sale for weeks! List your yard sale for $10.00 or talk to your neighbors and!list 3 for $20.00. Your sale is by street address and cross street. This list will be available to shoppers on the morning of the sale as well as online for the weeks leading up to the sale. You will also receive a City Wide Yard Sale sign to mark your house on the day of the sale. The City Wide Yard Sale will be locally advertised by the Recreation Department, in print and online. Registration deadline: Wednesday, June 11, 2025
Note: Any signs posted by sellers are the seller’s responsibility for removal and proper disposal after the City-Wide Yard Sale has concluded.

City-Wide Yard Sale FALL EDITION- Yard Sale List
Developmental and Instructional Summer Youth Basketball League. The program needs volunteers to help in the following areas: Coaching, Score Keepers, Timers, Team Parents, and Helpers with Pee Wee Instruction.
Registration is open to youth ages 6 to 18. Each Division has a limited amount of spaces available & registration will be closed when spaces are filled.
Our Girl’s division will return in 2025. Girls can pick between playing co-ed or playing in their very own league!
Coaches McPartland and Mullins know how to get your kids moving! A multi-sport camp, designed to provide children an opportunity to develop good character, learn valuable life skills, discover new interests, and make new friends.
Clinic will be held at Memorial Park & Rombout Middle School depending on weather.
Students should bring snacks and water jugs with them each day as several breaks are built into the schedule.

Offering tennis instruction for high school players and all others ages 8 and up. Classes will be designed to meet the needs of the individual group. Groups will be determined based on age and experience. Instruction will include everything from basic strokes and rules for beginners, to match play and strategy for more advanced players. No experience is necessary. Weekday mornings with two 1-week sessions.

Personal tennis racquets are required for the clinic. If you need a racquet please let us know and we will see if we can find a loaner.
Beginner Skateboarding with Connect Skateboarding Skate Instructor Andrew Singh is back this Spring with another exciting session of Skate Lessons. With 10+ years of teaching experience and industry knowledge, Andrew and his team of experienced skateboarders will teach the basic fundamentals of skateboarding in a safe yet entertaining environment. It’s an exciting way to learn tricks, improve techniques, find personal success, and meet new friends. Andrew and his team provide an incredibly valuable learning experience tailor-made to each participant’s needs. In his lessons, they cover all the basic fundamentals of skateboarding while keeping it light and entertaining with skateboard-related games. Lessons will be held at the newly built RAMPS @ Memorial Park.
No Gear? No Problem.
For just $15, Connect Skateboarding offers top-notch rental gear (helmet and full pad set) and a skateboard for the entire 5-week program. Having good quality gear is essential for a smoother and less frustrating learning experience. Check out Connect’s blog post on this topic here. About our instructor: Andrew Singh is a Beacon, New York-born and raised skateboarder who is respected in the industry for his skills and years of knowledge. He has a solid list of sponsors such as Etnies Skateboarding, 5boro Skateboards, Bones Wheels, Ace Trucks, and Pepper Grip Tape that back and support any idea he has. His talent has landed him in many magazines and major websites over the years. He has also competed globally in some of the world’s largest skateboarding competitions. Andrew is well-loved by his peers in the skateboarding community and is always making a positive impact on the sport. He has a natural ability to connect with kids and adults of all ages and teach them how to ride the board and stay motivated. Beacon Youth Police Academy
Information on the 2025 Academy Coming Soon!
This free week-long program for students entering grades 9-12 provides an introduction to careers in law enforcement. Our Youth Police Academy meets for a week each summer. A variety of locations are used to host the program including Beacon High School, city hall, and the police station. Field trips include visits to local training and emergency centers and professionals and volunteers will share their experiences in these careers. This is always a fun experience for all. The goal of the academy is to help participating youth understand the role police officers play in the community, job duties performed and the requirements of becoming a police officer. In addition, the program fosters relationships between the officers and the youth participants. This is accomplished with mock situations and lectures, field trips, physical fitness exercises, and games. Additional opportunities for training have been added to our program in Stop the Bleed and Narcan for participants. Our instructors include Beacon City Police Officers as well as Police Officers who reside within the city of Beacon, participating as volunteers. All instructors are certified and well-trained in their areas of instruction/expertise.

Over the years, we have collaborated with many different organizations and individuals with the goal supporting and synergizing the work of our community partners. We want to acknowledge the hard work of committed, dedicated volunteers and organizations that expand upon the recreation landscape here in Beacon.
Beacon Girls Softball- Our goal is to build character using the sport of softball as a tool to improve girl’s self-confidence and self-esteem, inspiring better and more productive citizens in our community. Beacon Girls Softball (BGS) has been a long-standing local Beacon institution for more than 40 years, educating 4-13 year old girls on the skills and rules of fast-pitch softball! For the past 25 years, countless volunteers have dedicated their time to the promotion of the BGS program, which is currently managed by a Board of Directors of Beacon residents. BGS also imparts life lessons that include working as a team, the spirit of giving, camaraderie and good sportsmanship. It’s “More Than Just a Game.”

Beacon Soccer Club- A Club Built For Beacon. Since 1978, Beacon Soccer Club has been dedicated to providing opportunity to play the beautiful game of soccer at all levels of competition. Our Club offers programs designed for players from age 4 to 19, in both Competitive (Travel) and Recreational settings. Beacon Soccer Club offers an In-House intramural program and advanced Travel Soccer programs for youth athletes from age 4 to 19. Recreational leagues allow for players of all skill levels to learn the game, practice with professional coaches, and most importantly: play. Our Travel Teams represent Beacon at the highest skill level in the Hudson Valley, giving your player their chance to compete against and train with the best.
Community is the Club. Keeping the vision of our Club’s Founder, Mr. Patrick Kerr, Beacon Soccer Club’s Coaches, Division Directors, and Board Members are all Volunteers from the City of Beacon, New York and surrounding areas. The Dutchess County Senior Exercise Program is sponsored by the Dutchess County Office For the Aging, with partial funding provided by the New York State Office for the Aging and the U.S. Administration on Aging. A doctor’s approval is required for this class.
Our program mirrors the Tufts University Strong Living Program, an evidence based program for which our coordinator has received training in the curriculum. The program grew out of published research on bone density in older adults. It is designed to counter the effects of osteoporosis and lead to improvement in mobility, muscle strength, stamina, balance and independence.

Chair yoga is a gentle form of yoga that is practiced while sitting on a chair or using a chair for support.
