Beacon Youth Police Academy 2026

July 13 to July 17, 2026
8:00am to 4:00pm

The City of Beacon Police Department offers a free week-long program for students entering grades 9-12 that provides an introduction to careers in law enforcement.

Our Youth Police Academy meets for a week each summer. Various locations, including Beacon High School, City Hall, and the Beacon Police Station, host the program. Field trips include visits to local training and emergency centers, and professionals and volunteers share their experiences in these careers. This is always a fun experience for all.

The academy’s goal is to help participating youth understand the role police officers play in the community, the job duties they perform, and the requirements for becoming a police officer. In addition, the program fosters relationships between the officers and the youth participants. This is accomplished with mock situations and lectures, field trips, physical fitness exercises, and games.

Additional training opportunities have been added to our program, including Stop the Bleed and Narcan training for participants. Our instructors include Beacon City Police Officers. All instructors are certified and well-trained in their areas of instruction/expertise.
